I feel that if we are to continue to have our meetings in the same location and want to have members attend and support the guests we invite, then we need to be able to hear them. The least we should do is have a microphone and a speaker. The noise that is generated by the room next to ours is really disconcerting. I am sure that our budget allows the club to make this purchase. And it would certainly make the meetings more effective.

I agree with Mike, the noise level from the adjacent room at our last meeting was way to loud and distracting. I've heard this complaint and the suggestion of a sound system from several members since that meeting.
I will meet with the manager of Carrow's to see if a sound system is a viable option, and if so the club can consider using one.
Perhaps we can find another venue that would better serve our purposes and I'm open to suggestions .
I agree, it is very hard to hear and very distracting. I don't think it would hurt to look for alternate sites.
I realize that everyone is busy and that meeting are scheduled for one hour but more often than not it seems like we run short on time and are cutting off presenters or guests. Does anyone else feel the same?
The board is actively pursuing the change of location altogether, as all requests to restaurant management for consideration of modification to partition between the two rooms have been rejected.
IMHO use of sound system does not seem to be a viable solution as it would create a "shouting match" between our guest speaker and the noisy folks next door. Club president will be sharing more information on this in the upcoming days.
