Riding W. Mountain Drive to Santa Barbara

    Yesterday, 16 March 2024, as we were riding to Santa Barbara on W. Mountain Dr., (approx, 650 W Mountain Dr, Santa Barbara, CA) we came across this road closure sign. Upon closer examination, we walked the bikes another 50 ft. or so and continued riding on the other side of the barrier. For a short distance passage was a bit narrow and sand bags were present. Nevertheless, the road was passable on bike as we observed other cyclists.

    If you ride this section, be sure to stay close to the mountain side.  The road is seriously undercut.

    SB city is in charge of this section of Mountain Drive and expects to start repairs in a couple of months and complete them in September.
