    All,
Linda Jordan-O'Connor was hit from behind in Simi Valley while riding in the bike lane with a friend.  The driver, found days later, is being charged with Felony Hit and Run and Driving under the Influence

This woman could have been any of us.  This is our worst nightmare.

Ventura County Superior Court, Thurs. March 2 1:30pm
Blood Drive Feb 6 7a - 1p at Moorpark Police Station.

We cyclists need to show up in court wearing bike jerseys (club jerseys preferred).

Please pass on this information on the Blood Drive and the Rally at the County Court.  I will post this on the Club Blog.

    Thanks,
    Kate

P.S. The club ride that day is Ojai Clockwise.  Those riding should be able to easily make it to the government center in time for the court hearing.

    Kate,

Thanks for posting this. It is important for us to be aware of the misfortune of a fellow cyclist. As you said "This woman could have been any of us". I feel strongly enough about showing up at the court that I want the news spread through the entire membership. I'll try to get consensus at the upcoming board meeting for this.

We had a hit and run cyclist hit and killed while we lived in the San Diego area. That person lived down county and we did not personally know this cyclist. But the San Deigo cycling community was outraged by the timidity of the Prosecuting attorney's office. Regional clubs called and hassled the DA's office almost daily.   This is a good thing to do, Kate. sometimes the lives of cyclists have been known to get a short shrift.
