Ride Overview:

This is a scenic and enjoyable ride, featuring a mix of gravel fire road and paved roads. The gravel section of the ride is ~11 miles long. 3,242 feet of climb (almost all in the first 20 miles). The ride is suitable for road, touring or gravel bikes. 32mm+ tires are recommended.

We will start at the Museum of Ventura parking lot (optional ride start: Sulphur Mountain trailhead at 9:10am) and head out along the Ventura River Trail. After passing through Casitas Springs, we’ll cross Highway 33 to reach the Sulphur Mountain trailhead, where we will meet up with additional riders.

Bring enough water and snacks to get to lunch at mile 32.

The Route:

·  Sulphur Mountain: We will continue along the quiet, scenic gravel fire road until we reach the gate.

· The Descent: Past the gate, the route transitions to a paved road that descends toward the intersection of Highway 150.

· Ojai & Lunch: From there, we’ll ride through Ojai, taking the back roads to bypass the busy downtown area, eventually arriving at Papa Lennon’s for a well-deserved lunch stop.

The Return:

After lunch, we will take the Ojai Valley Trail for a relaxed ride back to Ventura.
